Pix4D floating licenses
Pix4D licenses are floating licenses that allow one to:
- Be logged in to a Pix4D application on one or more devices (laptop or desktop machine) at the same time. The number of devices depends on the license.
- Install Pix4D desktop software on as many computers as wanted without the need to uninstall Pix4D desktop software to move the license to another computer.
Licenses are hosted on our servers and you need an internet connection to get a license assigned to your device (we offer offline licenses for PIX4Dmatic and PIX4Dsurvey, please reach out to our sales team for more information). If you are already using the software on the maximum number of seats allowed by your license (for instance two), it is not possible to log into the Pix4D desktop application on a third computer at the same time.
To free a seat, follow the instructions listed in the "How to deactivate an active device on a license" section, depending on your product.
How to change my Pix4D account email?
Users cannot change the email of their Pix4D account.
As a workaround, if you need to access the licenses belonging to an organization with a new account, you can invite a new organization member (How to invite users to the organization). More information about Organization management can be found here: Organization management.
Note: In the event of an organization with only one member, and this member has no access to their account (therefore, no new organization members can be invited), one of our technical support engineers can change the organization owner's email.
In this specific case, please submit a request to Pix4D Support to change the email address of your account. Make sure to select Email change/license transfer in the Product or topic your requests about field.
How to transfer a license to a different Pix4D account?
Users cannot transfer a license from one account to another.
As a workaround, if you want to give someone else access to your organization's licenses, you can invite new members to your organization, as explained in this article: How to invite users to the organization.
Pix4D Educational licenses
Pix4D offers educational licenses with multiple seats. It is possible to set up PIX4Dmapper in a computer lab or classroom and manage the licenses' access. For more information, please refer to PIX4Dmapper installation for computer lab.
Pix4D also provides a PIX4Dmapper license to students at a reduced price. The requirement is that only a user having a professor license can invite students to purchase a semester or yearly license. For more information: Semester/yearly license of PIX4Dmapper for students.
How to deactivate an active device on a license
Pix4D software can usually be used on many different devices. Depending on your license, you have a limited number of devices that can be active at the same time. When the maximum number of licenses is reached, a "Maximum number of devices reached" message appears. If you want to access your software on another device, you might need to deactivate the first device first.
Note: If you don't have access to the device to deactivate (device not accessible, formatted, or stolen), you need to remotely deactivate the device. This can be done with PIX4Dmapper (Remote device deactivation - PIX4Dmapper), PIX4Dmatic (Device Manager - PIX4Dmatic), and PIX4Dsurvey (Device Manager - PIX4Dsurvey).
Note: Different Pix4D products have different procedures to deactivate an active device. Please refer to the list below according to your product.
PIX4Dmapper
- If you still have access to the device, log out from your account while being connected to the internet.
- If you don't have access to the device anymore, follow the instruction listed on this page: Remote device deactivation - PIX4Dmapper.
PIX4Dmatic and PIX4Dsurvey
- If you still have access to the device, just close the application while being connected to the internet
- If you don't have access to the device anymore, use the Device Manager as explained on this page: Device Manager (PIX4Dmatic) and Device Manager (PIX4Dsurvey).

License keys and Pix4D credit voucher codes
If you receive a license key or a Pix4D credit voucher, you must assign it to your organization using the redemption page so that it can be used.
This procedure has to be performed only once and must be done by an organization's Owner or Manager.
You can find more information about this on the dedicated page: License key activation, Pix4D credit voucher codes, and coupon codes.
