Inputs for processing

Pix4Dcloud inputs for processing are:

Note: A .p4d file containing customized processing options can also be uploaded to Pix4Dcloud if the project is created on the Pix4Dmapper and from there uploaded for processing. More information in: How to upload project files from Pix4Dmapper to Pix4Dcloud.

  • At least 6 images are required.
  • The following formats are supported.
Warning: Do not modify images, i.e. do not rotate or edit the images. Modifying images alters the geometrical properties of the camera and may deteriorate the quality of the results.
Extension Description
.jpg, .jpeg JPEG images
.tif, .tiff Monochromatic TIFF
Multi-band TIFF (RGB / Infrared). See supported multispectral cameras.
1 layer (no pyramid, no multi-page)
8, 10, 12, 14, 16 bit integer, floating point
Note: Orthomosaic cannot be generated from .tiff images with 10, 12 and 14 bits-per-sample pixels. Please note that this applies only to orthomosaics, not reflectance and index maps.
Note: For technical limitations with our server, the maximum number of input images that can be processed per project on Pix4Dcloud is equal to 4000.

Ground Control Points (GCPs) file

Important: This type of file can be uploaded to Pix4Dcloud Advanced only in order to automatically detected GCPs and mark them on the images.
Extension Description
.csv A text file containing from four to seven columns per line and a comma (,) to separate the values.

More information about GCPs requirements in: AutoGCPs detection functionality

Note: The only way to include GCPs on Pix4Dcloud is to upload the project files from Pix4Dmapper. A detailed workflow is described in How to use GCPs for processing on Pix4Dcloud.

Inputs for visualization

A dataset can consist of uploaded results only. In this case, no images are processed but the uploaded files are processed for their web-visualization and optimization. More information on how to upload results and outputs in: How to upload results and outputs to Pix4Dcloud.

  • David Brooks

What is the maximum megapixel size of an image that can be processed in Pix4D Cloud? I keep reading about the number of images limit, but never the size of images. I'm scoping out the options for mapping with a 150mp camera

  • Alice (Pix4D)

    Hi David,

    Which camera are you using?

4000 is the technical limit for the size of a project on Pix4Dcloud but this value has been defined based on a standard resolution value. 930 images at 150 MP will not process successfully on our Cloud servers.

A large-frame add-on can be purchased for our desktop product, Pix4Dmapper, but 930 images at this resolution is more than a challenge. You can contact sales if you want to try this option or you might want to consider other solutions (UltraMap, Inpho, LPS, ...)

  • Michele Arcangeli

Hi I would like to import the cloud generated on pix4D desktop to pix4Dcloud in order make it available for some client.

How can I do it, without restarting from zero the process on pix4D cloud?

  • Alice (Pix4D)

    Ciao Michele,

As explained in the last section of this article, a dataset can consist of uploaded results only. You can find more information on how to upload results and outputs at How to upload results and outputs to Pix4Dcloud. Let me know if you need additional clarifications.
