How PIX4Dfields software communicates with third-parties via internet

PIX4Dfields connects to Pix4D servers and selected third-party services to enable licensing, updates, data processing, analytics, and optional user-driven features, with anonymized data collection and configurable external integrations.

PIX4Dfields communicates with external software and services over the internet to support specific functionality.

The following connections may occur:

  • PIX4Dfields communicates with PIX4D servers for license validation and to check for updates.
  • Optional communication occurs if (and only if) the user chooses to upload data to PIX4Dcloud. The storage of the PIX4Dcloud project files is on Amazon S3, the region can be selected by the user in the Organization setting > Organization details.
  • We collect usage statistics through PIX4D server, then Mixpanel (GDPR compliant).

  • We collect crash reports through Sentry (third-party)

    • Crash reports are anonymized.

  • By default, we fetch 2D map tiles from Maptiler (third-party)

  • Satellite data is accessed via the Planet Insights Platform and Vantor providers
  • Magic Tool
    • Communication occurs only if the user explicitly enables the "Learn based on my data" toggle, which transmits anonymized imagery patches and classification labels to secure Pix4D repositories to optimize future models.
  • Field Insights Report
    • Field Insights utilizes a secure client-server API architecture to enrich local crop analysis with contextual environmental data. When generating reports, PIX4Dfields transmits localized geospatial and crop metadata to Field Insights servers and retrieves structured payloads containing regional agronomic and weather insights.
  • Share with John Deere
    • The integration establishes a secure, authenticated API connection to facilitate direct desktop-to-cloud asset deployment. Upon an explicit export command, PIX4Dfields securely uploads user-selected boundaries, operational obstacles, and prescription maps directly into the user's John Deere organization profile for immediate machine execution.
