This announcement serves as notice under our End-User License Agreement that PIX4Dmatic and PIX4Dsurvey will transition to a unified platform as of January 5, 2026.
PIX4Dmatic and PIX4Dsurvey: Unifying our desktop experience
This article explains the upcoming consolidation of PIX4Dmatic and PIX4Dsurvey into a single, enhanced application, PIX4Dmatic, and how this change impacts your current license and feature access.

What's changing?
The core change is the unification of the two separate desktop applications into a single product.
- Single application: PIX4Dmatic will become the unified desktop application for both photogrammetry processing and surveying/vectorization workflows.
- New plans: The new PIX4Dmatic plans (Standard, Analyst, and Pro) will replace the former PIX4Dmatic and PIX4Dsurvey product licenses and reflect your feature access in the unified application.
- Legacy versions discontinued: After your license is transitioned, PIX4Dmatic 1.X versions will no longer be accessible. You will use PIX4Dmatic 2.X which includes all your current features and more.
Impact on your current licenses and feature access
Your current feature access will be preserved under the new PIX4Dmatic plan structure. Starting with PIX4Dmatic version 2.0 (released during the week of January 5, 2026), you will use the new PIX4Dmatic versions to access the same features you have today.

What this means for you:

Is a valid S&U needed to work with PIX4Dmatic version 2.0? Yes, you need to work with a PIX4Dmatic and/or PIX4Dsurvey rental, plan or OTC license with valid S&U to work with PIX4Dmatic version 2.0.
Will PIX4Dmatic, starting with version 2.0, be compatible with my current licenses?
Yes. PIX4Dmatic version 2.0 is compatible with valid legacy licenses for PIX4Dmatic if your S&U is valid.
If I am a PIX4Dmatic user, what access will I have in PIX4Dmatic starting with version 2.0? You automatically will have PIX4Dmatic Standard access.
PIX4Dmatic OTC licenses will be transitioned to the PIX4Dmatic Standard OTC license in December 2026, if S&U is valid. PIX4Dmatic subscriptions will start to be migrated in September 2026 for renewals, and continue in December for all subscriptions.
If I am a PIX4Dsurvey user, what access will I have in PIX4Dmatic starting with version 2.0?
You will automatically have PIX4Dmatic Analyst access.
PIX4Dsurvey OTC licenses will be transitioned to the PIX4Dmatic Standard OTC license in December 2026, if S&U is valid. PIX4Dsurvey subscriptions will start to be migrated in 2026 September for renewals, and continue in December for all subscriptions
If I am a PIX4Dmatic and PIX4Dsurvey user, what access will I have in PIX4Dmatic starting with version 2.0?
You will automatically have PIX4Dmatic Standard and PIX4Dmatic Analyst access. This will allow you to continue parralellizing your work on two different computers. If I am a PIX4Dmatic and PIX4Dsurvey user, do I get PIX4Dmatic Pro access with 2 seats?
No. When moving from PIX4Dmatic (1 seat) + PIX4Dsurvey (1 seat) to PIX4Dmatic Pro, you receive a PIX4Dmatic Pro license with one seat. Or instead, you can choose to keep PIX4Dmatic Standard and PIX4Dmatic Analyst to keep two seats (for two different computers or two access levels on the same computer).
If I am a PIX4Dmatic Standard (PIX4Dmatic) and PIX4Dmatic Analyst (PIX4Dsurvey) user, can I open two instances of PIX4Dmatic to work at the same time with both licenses?
No, it is not possible to work simultaneously with PIX4Dmatic Standard and PIX4Dmatic Analyst on the same computer.
The S&U of my PIX4Dmatic/PIX4Dsurvey/ PIX4Dmatic and PIX4Dsurvey OTC license is/are expired. Can I get access to new plans and PIX4Dmatic 2.X?
To access PIX4Dmatic 2.X you need an active Support & Updates (S&U) period for your license(s). You can renew S&U in “Manage my account” via this link. In your PIX4Dmatic/PIX4Dsurvey license, in the Plans and Licenses section in your organization, click Get support and updates.
If the S&U is expired, then you will not be able to access PIX4Dmatic 2.X. In this case, there are two different options: (1) renewing the S&U so you can work with PIX4Dmatic 2.X; (2) not renewing the S&U, so you revert to the latest version PIX4Dmatic 1.X you have access.
Do you recommend the migration for OTC licenses from PIX4Dmatic and/or PIX4Dsurvey to PIX4Dmatic Standard and/or PIX4Dmatic Analyst? We recommend that you to contact Sales due to a change of conditions for the Support and Updates.
If my current valid licenses work with PIX4Dmatic version 2.0, why do my licenses need to be transitioned to the new PIX4Dmatic plans?
Transitioning ensures you maintain continuous access to all future product updates. This step future-proofs your workflow and simplifies license management
Will I be able to open my PIX4Dsurvey projects in PIX4Dmatic?
Yes. Your existing PIX4Dsurvey projects and file formats will remain compatible and can be opened in the unified PIX4Dmatic application under the Analyst or Pro plan.
How do I upgrade from PIX4Dmatic Standard/Analyst to Pro?

Can I activate a license for PIX4Dmatic or PIX4Dsurvey after January 5, 2026? Yes, you can activate licenses for PIX4Dmatic and PIX4Dsurvey after January 5. 2026. This may happen if you have purchased before that date and you have not activated the license, or if you have purchased through one of our partners after the mentioned date. Activating a PIX4Dmatic or PIX4Dsurvey license will give you access to PIX4Dmatic Standard and/or PIX4Dmatic Analyst module. PIX4Dmatic and PIX4Dsurvey licenses will be transitioned to the new plans in 2026.
If I am a PIX4Dsurvey user, how can I download the installer?
Since April 1st, the download links in Technical release notes - PIX4Dsurvey have been removed. To download PIX4Dsurvey, you will need to do so from your PIX4D account (Pix4D Account). Go to the organization where the license is located, and click "Download software."
