How to obtain a trial license for Pix4D products

Pix4D offers 15-day trial licenses for most of its products, allowing users to evaluate features before subscribing. This guide explains how to activate trials, product by product.

Overview of trial licenses

Availability

Pix4D offers 15-day free trial licenses for most of its products, allowing prospective users to explore software functionality before committing to a subscription. 

Activation

Trials are typically activated automatically or are available when the user logs into the software (PIX4Dmatic, PIX4Dsurvery, PIX4Dfields, PIX4Dreact, PIX4Dcloud, or PIX4Dcatch) for the first time. 

Note: An exception to this process is PIX4Dmapper, which requires users to manually request access through their Pix4D account or via the sales team.

Functionality

While trial versions provide access to most software features, our products have specific limitations. Trials of PIX4Dmatic, PIX4Dsurvey, PIX4Dcloud, PIX4Dfields, and PIX4Dreact do not allow users to export processed outputs.

Subscription Conversion

Pix4D trials do not automatically convert into paid subscriptions. One key exception is PIX4Dcatch trials initiated through Apple’s in-app purchase system, which will renew automatically unless canceled manually through iOS settings.

Trial Limitations

  • One trial per product per organization: Each product trial can only be activated once per organization. If any user within the organization has already started a trial for a specific product, no other member of that organization can start another trial for the same product.
  • One trial per user: Trials are limited to one per user, regardless of the organization. Users cannot obtain additional trials by switching to or joining another organization.
  • Role requirements: Only users with Owner or Manager roles can start a trial. Users with Member, Reader, or Editor roles are not permitted to initiate trials, even in their default organization.
  • Trial licenses are limited to a single seat.  Only one computer can be logged into the trial license at any given time, and parallel processing across multiple workstations is not supported. However, the license can be transferred to another member of the organization, provided it is not currently in use.

Activate trial within the desktop

Trials to PIX4Dmatic, PIX4Dsurvey, PIX4Dfields, PIX4Dreact, PIX4Dcatch, and PIX4Dcloud can be automatically activated when logging into the application for the first time.

PIX4Dmatic

  1. Create an account at Pix4D here.
  2. Download and install PIX4Dmatic.
  3. Log in with your Pix4D account.
  4. Click Start Trial on the Home screen.

PIX4Dsurvey

  1. Create an account at Pix4D here.
  2. Download and install PIX4Dsurvey.
  3. Log in with your Pix4D account.
  4. Click Start Trial on the Home screen.

  1. Create an account at Pix4D here.
  2. Download and install PIX4Dsurvey.
  3. Log in with your Pix4D account.
  4. Click Start Trial on the Home screen.

  1. Create an account at Pix4D here.
  2. Download and install PIX4Dreact.
  3. Log in with your Pix4D account.
  4. If logging in for the first time, an automatic 15-day trial subscription is generated.

PIX4Dcloud Advanced

  1. Go to the PIX4Dcloud page.
  2. Click Start Free Trial in the top navigation bar.
  3. Sign up or login when prompted.
  4. The 15-day trial will activate automatically

    PIX4Dcatch

    1. Create an account at Pix4D here.
    2. Download PIX4Dcatch from the App Store or Google Play.
    3. Log in with your Pix4D account.
    4. The 15-day trial will activate automatically.

    Warning: PIX4Dcatch trials started through Apple’s in-app purchase system will automatically convert to a paid subscription unless canceled before the trial ends. The trial can be canceled at any time but remains active for the 15-day duration.  Subscription management must be done through the iOS Settings app.

    How to request a trial to PIX4Dmapper

    Trials for PIX4Dmapper require a manual activation.  Please follow the steps below to request a trial of PIX4Dmapper.
    1. Visit the PIX4Dmapper trial page.
    2. Click Try for Free and log in.
    3. In the Download Software section, click Contact Us under PIX4Dmapper.

    Note: For PIX4Dmapper, requests from corporate emails are automatically processed for trial. Non-corporate requests are routed to sales and may take up to 15 days for review.

    Troubleshooting trial access

    If the message "User not eligible for a PIX4D trial" appears, verify the following:

    • Check whether the product trial has already been used within the organization.

    • Confirm that the user’s account has not previously activated a trial for the same product, regardless of the organization it was associated with.

    • Ensure the user requesting a trial has either an Owner or Manager role within the organization.
