How to obtain a trial license for PIX4D products

PIX4D offers 15-day trial licenses for most of its products, allowing users to evaluate features before committing to a subscription. This guide explains how to activate trials, product by product.

Overview of trial licenses

Availability

PIX4D offers 15-day free trial licenses for most of its products, allowing prospective users to explore software functionality before committing to a subscription. 

Activation

To activate a trial, follow the procedure for the specific product. You will be asked to enter your payment details.

A trial license will become a paid subscription 15 days after activation unless it is canceled. 

Typically, the Start trial button is available in the user interface when the user logs into the software (PIX4Dmatic, PIX4Dcloud, or PIX4Dcatch) for the first time.  PIX4Dfields, PIX4Dreact do not have this requirement yet

Note: An exception to this process is PIX4Dmapper, which requires users to manually request access via the sales team.

Functionality

Trial versions provide full access to all software features, including exporting processed outputs. This applies to trials for PIX4Dmatic, PIX4Dcloud, PIX4Dfields, and PIX4Dreact.

Subscription Conversion / Trial license cancellation

PIX4D trials for PIX4Dmatic and PIX4Dcloud automatically convert into paid subscriptions if not canceled. To cancel the trial and avoid a conversion to a paid plan, follow the instructions in this page: How to cancel a subscription plan or a trial. You will receive a confirmation of the cancellation, and you will see the canceled plan in your organization's Plans and Licenses page.

One key exception is PIX4Dcatch trials initiated through Apple’s in-app purchase system, which follows the same concept, but must be canceled manually through the iOS settings.

Tip: Even if canceled before expiration, the trial license will be valid for the entire 15 day trial period. 

Trial Limitations

  • One trial per product per organization: A product trial can only be activated once per organization. If any user within the organization has already started a trial for a specific product, no other member of that organization can start another trial for the same product.
  • One trial per product per payment method: A product trial can only be activated once with the same payment method. If any user has already started a trial for a specific product with a specific payment method, no other user can start another trial for the same product with the same payment method.
  • One trial per user: Trials are limited to one per user, regardless of the organization. Users cannot obtain additional trials by changing organization.
  • Role requirements: Only users with Owner or Manager roles can start a trial. Users with Member, Reader, or Editor roles are not permitted to initiate trials, even in their default organization.
  • Trial licenses are limited to a single seat. Only one computer can be logged into the trial license at any given time, and parallel processing across multiple workstations is not supported. However, the license can be transferred to another member of the organization, provided it is not currently in use.

Activate the trial within the PIX4D software

Trial licenses for PIX4Dmatic, PIX4Dfields, PIX4Dreact, PIX4Dcatch, and PIX4Dcloud can be activated from within the product.

PIX4Dmatic

  1. Create a PIX4D account here.
  2. Download and install PIX4Dmatic.
  3. Log in with your PIX4D account.
  4. Click Start Trial on the Home screen.
  5. Select a subscription plan and billing cycle
  6. Add your payment details. 
  7. The 15 day free trial will activate automatically. You can cancel anytime before trial ends.

Note: No matter which plan you select (PIX4Dmatic Standard, PIX4Dmatic Analyst, or PIX4Dmatic Pro), during the trial period, you will have access to all PIX4Dmatic Pro features.

PIX4Dfields

  1. Create a PIX4D account here.
  2. Download and install PIX4Dfields.
  3. Log in with your PIX4D account.
  4. Click Start Trial on the Home screen.

PIX4Dreact

  1. Create a PIX4D account here.
  2. Download and install PIX4Dreact.
  3. Log in with your PIX4D account.
  4. Click Start Trial on the Home screen.

PIX4Dcloud

  1. Open the login page for PIX4Dcloud.
  2. Enter your PIX4Dcloud credentials or create an account
  3. Log in with your PIX4D account or create a new account
  4. If eligible, you will see a Start Free Trial button in the top navigation bar. Click on it
  5. A pop-up will open. Click Start trial.
  6. Select a subscription plan and billing cycle
  7. Add your payment details.
  8. The 15 day free trial for PIX4Dcloud Pro will activate automatically. You can cancel anytime before the trial ends

    Note: No matter which plan you select (PIX4Dcloud Starter or PIX4Dcloud Pro), during the trial period, you will have access to all PIX4Dcloud Pro features.

      PIX4Dcatch

      1. Create a PIX4D account here.
      2. Download PIX4Dcatch from the App Store.
      3. Launch the PIX4Dcatch app and log in with your PIX4D account.
      4. Try to open any premium feature (for example, by enabling the AR points).
      5. Follow the instructions on screen, the 15-day trial will activate automatically after subscribing.

      Warning: PIX4Dcatch trials started through Apple’s in-app purchase system will automatically convert to a paid subscription unless canceled before the trial ends. The trial can be canceled at any time but remains active for the 15-day duration.  Subscription management must be done through the iOS Settings app.

      How to request a trial of PIX4Dmapper

      Trials for PIX4Dmapper require manual activation.  Please follow the steps below to request a trial of PIX4Dmapper:
      1. Go to the PIX4D website and open the Contact Sales form.
      2. Fill in your professional contact details.
      3. Select "Request a trial."
      4. Specify your project requirements and explain why your workflow specifically requires PIX4Dmapper.
      5. Our Sales team will evaluate your request and get in touch with you to assist with license setup. This process may take up to 15 days for review.

      Troubleshooting trial access

      User not eligible for a PIXD product trial

      If the message "User not eligible for a PIX4D trial" appears, verify the following:

      • Check whether a product trial has already been used within the organization.

      • Confirm that the user’s account has not previously activated a trial for the same product, regardless of the organization it was associated with.

      • Ensure the user requesting the trial has either an Owner or Manager role within the organization.

      Cannot enter a payment method to start a trial
