How many images can the PIX4Dcloud servers process when uploading from PIX4Dmapper?
When a project is created in PIX4Dmapper and uploaded to PIX4Dcloud for cloud processing, the maximum number of images that can be processed successfully depends on several factors, including project characteristics, processing options, requested outputs, and camera resolution.
Licenses: This article is valid for PIX4Dcloud Starter and PIX4Dcloud Pro licenses (formerly PIX4Dcloud Advanced).
Roles: Only Owners, Managers, and Editors can create and process datasets in PIX4Dcloud.
Scope of this article
This article specifically addresses projects:
-
Created in PIX4Dmapper
-
Uploaded to PIX4Dcloud for processing
For information about image limits when:
-
Uploading images directly via the PIX4Dcloud web interface, or
-
Creating a project in PIX4Dmatic and uploading it to PIX4Dcloud,
refer to the corresponding support article.
General limitations
Users with a PIX4Dcloud or PIX4Dcloud Pro license cannot process more than 4,000 images per project. This limit also applies to projects uploaded from PIX4Dmapper.
For more details on cloud processing allowances, see PIX4Dcloud – FAQ.
The actual number of images that can be processed successfully may be lower than the maximum limit, depending on:
-
Camera resolution
-
Ground sampling distance (GSD)
-
Image overlap
-
Processing template and output types
-
Project complexity
This article provides benchmark results based on internal tests performed with common project configurations and default processing options.
Type of flight
The 3D Maps – Quality template includes generation of:
-
Point Cloud (.LAS)
-
3D Textured Mesh (.OBJ)
-
Orthomosaic (GeoTIFF)
-
DSM (GeoTIFF)
For more information, see New dataset - Processing template.
Important considerations
-
Higher-quality outputs, additional outputs, or extra output formats can significantly reduce the likelihood of successful processing.
-
Project complexity (dense scenes, high overlap, low GSD) has a direct impact on processing feasibility.
