Description

Error when importing a PIX4Dfields project (.p4f ) into another account that already exists on the same device.

Cause

After processing a project in PIX4Dfields, the data is stored on the device storage in a folder called Data storage folder. The Data storage folder is usually located in C:\Users\...\PIX4Dfields.

Note: The location of the Data storage folder can be modified by using the Settings of the PIX4Dfields Dashboard. For more information: PIX4D Video Tutorial - PIX4Dfields dashboard.

If a project was processed on PIX4Dfields, the data is stored on the device storage. Therefore, if you use another PIX4Dfields account, but the same machine, you will get the message, “Please check that the project was not already imported with a different name”.

Warning: Modifications into the subfolders: Capture, Data, Log, and Temp can lead to loss of data.

Solution

1. Export the project.
2. Log out from account A.
3. Log in with account B.
4. Select another location for the Data Storage Folder.

Note: To find the Data Storage folder, click Settings at the upper right corner of the dashboard > Choose Folder, select a new location for the Data Storage folder.

5. After changing the Data Storage Folder, close PIX4Dfields
6. Double click the.p4f
7. The files and data of the project will be imported to the new account, and save into the new Data storage folder.

Warning: The files and data from the previous Data storage folder will not be imported to the new Data storage folder. Therefore, projects on the dashboard (from the previous data storage folder) will be visible, but the data will be missing.
To open those previous projects, select the corresponding data storage folder.
