Pix4Dcapture offers the possibility to fly four different kind of autopilot missions and one manual but semi-automatic mission.
To get the best results out of the image acquisition plan, the type of mission and the drone have to be chosen depending on the terrain/objects that need to be reconstructed. For more information:
- Step 1. Before Starting a Project > 1. Designing the Image Acquisition Plan > a. Selecting the Image Acquisition Plan Type.

Plan and fly a two consecutive nadir rectangle missions. It ensures that images are taken from multiple sides, with the overlap required for optimal processing. Compared to the simple grid, this mission is recommended for flying closer to objects in order to capture more vertical details. Recommended in the following cases:
|
|
Plan and fly a nadir polygonal mission. Suitable for most environments that require flexible boundaries for flying or with a complex mapping shape. It ensures that images are taken with the overlap required for optimal processing. Recommended in the following cases:
|
|
Plan and fly an ellipsoid mission around objects. It ensures that the images are taken from all angles around a target point, with the overlap required for optimal processing. For high objects, flying several circular missions at different altitude is suggested. Recommended in the following cases:
|
|
Plan and fly a free flight mission (advanced users). Suitable to map more difficult objects that require more flexibility. The camera shutter is automatically triggered according to a horizontal and vertical distance interval. It requires to manually pilot the drone. Recommended in the following cases:

because you can not perform scheduled flights with the spark dji, I get an error that is not in position P, sample image is attached
Hi Cesar,
Only Free flight missions will be available while using Pix4Dcapture with the DJI Spark. I would suggest you to have a look at how to prepare and start a free flight mission procedure on our Knowledge Base.
If you cannot make it work I would suggest you have a look at our basic checks and troubleshooting, it will solve your issue in most of the cases.
Best,

Hi Adalberto,
In order to help you efficiently, can you answer the following questions:
- What is your configuration (drone, camera, mobile device)?
- Are you update with the latest drone firmware and the latest Pix4Dcapture versions?
- Would you be able to send us relevant screenshots of the issue?
I recommend you going all along our basic checks and troubleshooting steps described in this article. It will enable to solve most of the issues encountered.
Using Pix4Dcapture, when unexpected behavior occurs, we recommend interrupting the mission following the procedure described here.
Best,
Hi my drone is anafi work, skycontroller 3, my dispositive is a xt 1900-6 desenveloped Motorola and every apps hás a last update.
Hello Adalberto,
Can you precise me what is exactly the issue you are encountering? If I understand well the issue, the application crashes, is it occurring all the time or you had this issue only once?
Note that touching the joysticks when flying a Parrot drone will switch the drone to the manual mode.
Best,
Hello, how are you
I need to fly an area of 2,000m X 2,000m and I would like to know if there is any restriction on flight area size for each type of mission in Pix4DCapture. If so, what would be the maximum area to fly in each type of mission?
Or could I fly using flights with multiple batteries or creating multiple flight plans?
I know there are restrictions on the distance from the starting point to the center of the flight plane (150m), or from the point where the drone is to the center of the flight plane (250m).
Thank you!
Hi Paulo,
I would recommend you to plan multiple missions that do not exceed one battery life. Also, make sure to have proper overlap between the mission. To learn more about it follow our support article on (Android) How to fly large areas.
Hi,
I am going to use Pix4Dcapture for capturing photos by a P3A because of its capabilities. I wonder if I can process the images by AgiSoft PhotoScan Software for 3D modeling. Is there any feedback?
Thank you.
Hello I am literally getting irritated with pix4dcapture in ios because my frnds all are using android versions and they are happy because there is multiple mission in one project where they overlap and resume the drone to cover very large distances but it is not possible for me to do this..... so is there any way I can use multiple missions and grid overlap like android? By the way I use a ipad 6 ios 12
Hi Bharat,
You should be able to make multi-battery flights on iOS. Please follow the steps explained in the article (Android, iOS) Multi-battery flights.
In case of unexpected behavior, we usually recommend going through the steps described in our basic checks and troubleshooting article. https://bit.ly/2JOaf79.
That is not what I have asked This “How to fly large areas in android” can I do the same with IOS ?
Hi Bharat,
Sorry for the misunderstanding, your concern was about the feature to have multiple mission inside one project to map a larger area. This option is recently available with the Android version only. In our will to improve our application to make it more user-friendly and more comfortable to use, that is definitely something that will be considered for the future, but no timeline can be given for the moment.
hola tengo phantom pro v 2.0 descargue (Pix4d), pero no logro comunicación entre dron y el programa
gracias

Hello any update on How can I cover large distances in IOS pix4d like How we can cover large distances in Android Pix4d?
Hi Bharat,
There has been no update regarding the feature you are requesting for iOS devices. For now, it looks like, it is not in our priority list. I would recommend you to use the step explained in method B of our support article How to fly large areas.
Buenas tardes.
Cuando estará disponible Pix4d Capture para Android para el Drone Parrot Anafi THERMAL (RGB).
Muchas Gracias
Hola Leonardo,

Hi. I have a DJI Spark and only mission on the home screen is Free flight missions (which is for advanced users). If this mission is target for advanced users, then why can't I access other mission overlays for a simpler option to map projects on my Spark drone???
I think DJI Spark is not very recommended for aerial mapping dye your specifications are indicated for hobby (battery durability, wind resistance, sensor, speed, radio link...). But already saw some guys using Drone Deploy for it. But be carefully with its limits.
Hello Sean,
At the moment, the Free Flight mission is available for DJI Spark, and we don't have any plan to support other missions using the Pix4Dcapture app. As Paulo said, DJI Spark is not very recommended for aerial mapping.
Best,
Hi, it would be great to be able to control camera settings, such as ISO, aperture and shutter speed, directly from pix4DCapture while running the flight, and not from DJI Go4. Having these two applications open at the same time creates conflicts. There are many applications - more basic than Pix4DCapture - that allow you to do this. For photographers this option is infinitely necessary
