How to upload or replace results to PIX4Dcloud

It is possible to upload outputs to PIX4Dcloud without (re-)processing the images on the Pix4D servers. Notice, however, that they will be processed for their web visualization, meaning that the display of the file is not instant after the upload.

 
Information: For existing projects that were processed on PIX4Dcloud, uploading outputs does not delete the processed results. The new outputs only replace the results that are displayed but do not replace them in the project folders that can be downloaded from Files & Exports > Download > Export to PIX4Dmapper. Which files can be uploaded as results

Read the full list of supported files and the required formats at: Inputs.

For a new dataset (no images are processed on PIX4Dcloud)

To upload results to a new dataset:

  1. Go to PIX4Dcloud and log in with a valid Pix4D account.
  2. Create a new dataset and follow the instructions to Upload processed results.
  3. In the Files & Exports > Files > Results section click Upload File in the box of the output to be uploaded, and browse for the directory to select the file. Alternatively, it is possible to drag and drop the file(s) onto the respective output section.
  4. The upload window pops up showing the upload status. Once successful, click CLOSE.

For an existing dataset that was already processed on PIX4Dcloud or whose results were already uploaded

To upload or replace files for an existing dataset:

  1. Go to PIX4Dcloud and log in with a valid Pix4D account.
  2. Open the existing dataset where to upload the output(s).
  3. In the Files & Exports > Files > Results section click Replace File in the box of the output to be uploaded, and browse for the directory to select the file. Alternatively, it is possible to drag and drop the file(s) onto the respective output section.
  4. The upload window pops up showing the upload status. Once successful, click CLOSE.

3D OBJ Mesh upload recommendations

The Mesh generated by PIX4Dmapper is not georeferenced. Add the offset.xyz file together with the 3D Mesh files when uploading the 3D Mesh if one of the following conditions apply:

  • Both the Point Cloud and the 3D Mesh are being uploaded.
  • A georeferenced 3D Mesh is needed.
  • Annotations are planned to be created and visualized both in 2D and 3D.

The offset file enables the user to georeference the 3D Mesh and align it to the Point Cloud.

The offset file can be found in the ..\1_initial\params folder of your PIX4Dmapper project. If this folder does not exist, select the Camera Internals and Externals, AAT, BBA option for step 1. Initial Processing under the Calibration tab (Menu Process > Processing Options... > 1. Initial Processing > Calibration) and re-run Step 1.

 
Important: Ensure all four files are uploaded at the same time.
  1. Copy the offset.xyz file in the 3d_mesh folder.
  2. Drag and drop the .obj, .mtl, .jpg and .xyz files in the Mesh OBJ box of the Files & Exports > Files > Results view.
  3. Wait for the upload to be finished. The upload of the georeferenced Mesh is completed.

    Would like the option of uploading from desktop to cloud multiple .LAS point cloud files for a project.  For now, I will upload the project files multiple times, one for each .LAS file as my workaround.  Thank you.

     Hello, when I try to calculate a volume of a project that processes in this way, it is impossible. The cloud gives me a result of 0, but if it works if that same project I do in the desktop version or upload the images to the cloud

    I have processed a model/map on PIX4D mapper desktop, and have taken time to edit the point cloud carefully and to create the final mesh.  in other words all three processing steps are complete and I have a nice looking point cloud and mesh.  I would like to upload this now to the Cloud to share with a client and to compute measurements there working with the client.

    If I upload the project from the desktop Mapper, it will start the processing again on the cloud and all of my point cloud edits will be lost.  If I tell it not to process on the cloud I just have the image files without any map or 3D model on the cloud.

    Is there a way to fully process with point cloud edits a map on PIX4D Mapper desktop and then post it on the cloud for measurements and presentation to a client?

    Suggestion - it would be really great (and logical) if the upload project from desktop to cloud and download project from cloud to desktop functions offered the options to transfer some or ALL that has been computed and edited on either platform.  It would also be nice to have full functionality on the cloud to edit point clouds - as this is the only reason I need to use the Desktop step.

    A great strategic goal for PIX4D would be to make the Desktop Mapper and Cloud Mapper symmetrical and allow easy transport of projects as processed back and forth.  In the meantime however is there a way to get my edited point cloud to the Cloud?

    @Christian could you check if your case falls in one of those written at the bottom of the article How to calculate volumes on the cloud ?

    @Mark if you want to do some edits on the point cloud, you can process on the cloud (every time the processing starts with Step 1), download the point cloud and open it locally to edit it and then you can replace the point cloud previously generated on the cloud with the edited one from the cloud interface: in the left panel go to the tab FILES > Results and click REPLACE FILE in the corresponding Point Cloud box.

    What is the .mtl file?

    What is the export selection we need to make in order to make sure that this item is generated so I can upload to the cloud?

    Material library files contain one or more material definitions, each of which includes the color, texture, and reflection map of individual materials. These are applied to the surfaces and vertices of objects. Material files are stored in ASCII format and have the .mtl extension.

    If you are interested in the generation of the 3D Textured Mesh you need to check the boxes Generate 3D Textured Mesh and OBJ in the processing options, as explained in the article Output is not displayed / feature is missing in the cloud

    Hi,

    Been uploading a processed file(NDVI.tif, 54mb) from Fields to the Cloud however once it reaches maybe after 30 minutes or so 6-7%, it goes back to 0%.  After a couple of retries, the upload finally failed. AND there's two more files to be uploaded.  Any suggestions?

    I'm trying to upload results for a client to see and I have a total of 9 LAS files in my point could folder and the cloud isn't allowing me to upload more than one file. Will uploading only one of these files work and is so which file should it be?

    Bob, you need to make sure the Merge Tiles checkbox is selected. You have to upload 1 single point cloud LAS file.

    How large of a point cloud can be uploaded to the cloud, the one Im trying is about 48GB is there a max?

    Troy, I would recommend you put the 3D Mesh in the cloud if your point cloud is that big. You're not going to see favorable results as even small point clouds take a while to render when moving around the 3D space. You'll be waiting for a long time for all the points to render in your view.

    It would be nice to upload the companion imagery along with the results generated from desktop without triggering processing on the cloud servers. This way we can still use the inspection tool and see the original imagery as well for analysis/visualization at native resolution.

    I agree with Hunter. The original imagery would be super helpful. We have to process on desktop because there is usually a lot of clean up we have to do with the Point Cloud and Ortho which is not available on Cloud.

    @Troy regarding the size of the point cloud, if the file is too big, the conversion/display on the Cloud might fail due to lack of memory.

    Hi Pix4D Team,

    I have Pixd4 Cloud and have uploaded two Orthomosaic Tiff files each 4GB. However I am not able to load any one of them, is there any additional step apart from upload the tiff file in the New Dataset? Please see below screenshots:

    One of the Tiff files after successful upload gives that error " This layer can't be displayed" and there is nothing to load:

     

    With the second Tiff Orthomosaic there is nothing at all that has been loaded:

    Hello Stefan,

    This error is expected for outputs having a significant size and/or a complex geometry. In this case, the tiling process failed, meaning that the generated 2D output could not be split into smaller web maps (tiles) for several zoom levels, and for this reason, the output cannot be displayed.​ You can either reduce the resolution of the orthomosaic or its extent. 

    Please ensure that the files you uploaded are not corrupted by third-party software (Adobe Photoshop). Were they generated in Pix4Dmatic or Pix4Dmapper or other sources?
