PIX4Dmapper End-of-Support

In October 2026, PIX4D announced the End-of-Sale and End-of-Support dates for PIX4Dmapper. This section details the rationale, timeline, and risks of continuing to use PIX4Dmapper after the End-of-Support date.

Why will PIX4D stop supporting PIX4Dmapper?

PIX4Dmapper is being retired as part of a strategic shift toward modern technology, subscription-based solutions, and to ensure compliance with the European Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).

The decision to end support for PIX4Dmapper on December 1, 2027, is driven by two main factors:

  • Product evolution: PIX4D focuses on end-to-end workflows—spanning mobile capture, desktop/cloud processing, and cloud collaboration. In this scope, PIX4Dmatic meets modern mapping demands and addresses the vast majority of user needs, with plans to support video, 360, and multispectral processing in 2027.
  • Regulatory compliance: The European Cyber Resilience Act requires ongoing security maintenance for software, necessitating the phase-out of legacy software.

Why PIX4Dmatic is the evolution of PIX4Dmapper

We are currently at a pivotal point where PIX4Dmatic has become the clear evolution of PIX4Dmapper. This transition is a core part of our mission to build a more modern, unified workflow.

By moving toward PIX4Dmatic, we are enabling users to leverage superior features that are essential for high-performance projects:

    • Speed and performance: optimized processing times and highly accurate results, enabling quicker project turnaround.
    • Hardware versatility: Broad compatibility with modern hardware, including newer cameras and operating systems (e.g., macOS, DJI Thermal).
    • Data fusion: Integrated workflows that combine aerial and terrestrial photogrammetry and LiDAR data.
    • Advanced precision: Support for local geoids, vertical coordinate reference systems, and automated tools to ensure maximum efficiency. Continuous integration of new coordinate reference systems.
    • Advanced processing capabilities: The integration of Gaussian Splatting has elevated the quality of reconstructions generated by PIX4Dmatic beyond what PIX4Dmapper can achieve.

PIX4Dmatic was designed to meet the demands of modern mapping, offering superior performance for datasets of all sizes, from a few images to tens of thousands. Its development is driven by customer feedback, which has enabled us to expand capabilities to support our entire customer base, delivering robust results across all dataset types: aerial, terrestrial, LiDAR, mixed-capture methods, RGB, thermal, videos (in 2026), and multispectral (in 2027).

Today, PIX4Dmatic addresses the vast majority of our users' needs, with several specialized features currently in development.
