Asset types - PIX4Dinspect

Asset types

Several Asset types can be selected from the PIX4Dinspect asset/project creation wizard, and although every asset type has custom processing settings for the corresponding use case type, they all share common factors.

When creating a new Project within an Asset in PIX4Dinspect, it doesn't matter which asset type is chosen, certain criteria have to be met with the images uploaded for the project to be created correctly:

  • At leat 5 images or 1 video have to be uploaded (.jpg .jpeg or .mp4 files)
  • Maximum 4000 images
  • Georeferenced images
  • Images with compatible (XMP) camera orientation (Specifications of xmp.camera tags)

All the different available Asset types, their outputs, and options are described in the following sections:

Important: The 3D Model output is selected by default for all asset types, but the rest of the Intelligent Digital Twin outputs for each asset type ( Image map, Elevation map, and Textured 3D model) are optional. If neither the 3D Model nor any of the other outputs are selected in step 3 (Options) of the Project creation process, the project can still be uploaded and created, but only for image inspection purposes.
 
Telecom

Telecom

This asset type is meant to be used for any Telecom project (tower, water tower, roof installation, etc.) on which the automatic recognition of different Antennas, Ancillary boxes, Microwave boxes, etc., is needed.

When creating a new Telecom Asset, a Telecom Asset Subtype has to be selected: Self-Support, Monopole, Guyed Tower, Rooftop, or Watertower.

Selecting a Telecom Asset Subtype is a great help for having better asset management in the PIX4Dinspect dashboard.

Note: To be able to select the Telecom Asset type, or create a project for a Telecom Asset type, is necessary to have Project allowance available in your account ( contact sales for more information).

The Telecom Asset type offers the following outputs, options, and AI plugins:

  • Intelligent digital twin: Create an intelligent digital twin from the input files.
    • Outputs: 3D model, Image map, Elevation map.
  • Area of interest: Crop the surroundings of the asset to focus on what matters.
    • Auto:Crop using automatic image geolocation.
    • Custom: Crop selecting a custom area based on the provided radius and the detected center of the telecom tower (5m to 50m).
  • Artificial Intelligence plugins
    • Tower Inventory: Automatically extract the inventory list of panel antennas, microwave antennas, and ancillary boxes as well as their angles, dimensions, and positions.
    • Rust detection: Automatically detect rust-affected areas.

Transmission Tower

The Transmission Tower asset type is meant to be used for transmission tower inspection (also known as Pylons, Electricity Pylons, or Hydro towers).

These structures are usually steel lattice towers used to support an overhead power line, and the flight plan for their inspection may vary depending on the tower's structure and cables surrounding it or hanging from it.

The Transmission Tower Asset type offers the following outputs, options, and AI plugins:

  • Intelligent digital twin: Create an intelligent digital twin from the input files.
    • Outputs: 3D model, Image map, Elevation map.
  • Area of interest: Crop the surroundings of the asset to focus on what matters.
    • Auto:Crop using automatic image geolocation.
    • Custom: Crop selecting a custom area based on the provided radius and the detected center of the telecom tower (5m to 50m).
  • Artificial Intelligence plugins
    • Rust detection: Automatically detect rust-affected areas.

Rooftop

The Rooftop asset type is meant to be used for building rooftop inspections on which the automatic recognition of different rooftop faces, areas, and measurements is needed.

The flight plans for rooftop assets inspections are usually composed of different Grid missions with a recommended camera angle value of -45o.

The Rooftop Asset type offers the following outputs, options, and AI plugins:

  • Intelligent digital twin: Create an intelligent digital twin from the input files.
    • Outputs: 3D model, Textured 3D model.
  • Area of interest: Crop the surroundings of the asset to focus on what matters.
    • Auto:Crop using automatic image geolocation.
    • Don ́t Crop: Recommended for a vertical wall.
  • Artificial Intelligence plugins
    • Rooftop segmentation: Automatically detect and measure usable rooftop faces.
    • Rust detection: Automatically detect rust-affected areas.

Building

The Building asset type is meant to be used for a whole building or building facades inspections.

The flight plans for building assets inspections could combine Orbit missions and Single Vertical missions.

The Building Asset type offers the following outputs, options, and AI plugins:

  • Intelligent digital twin: Create an intelligent digital twin from the input files.
    • Outputs: 3D model, Image map, Elevation map, and Textured 3D model.
  • Area of interest: Crop the surroundings of the asset to focus on what matters.
    • Auto:Crop using automatic image geolocation.
    • Don ́t Crop: Recommended for a vertical wall.
  • Artificial Intelligence plugins:
    • Rust detection: Automatically detect rust-affected areas.

Bridge

The Bridge Asset type offers the following outputs, options, and AI plugins:

  • Intelligent digital twin: Create an intelligent digital twin from the input files.
    • Outputs: 3D model, Image map, Elevation map, and Textured 3D model.
  • Area of interest: Crop the surroundings of the asset to focus on what matters.
    • Auto:Crop using automatic image geolocation.
    • Don ́t Crop: Recommended for a vertical wall.
  • Artificial Intelligence plugins:
    • Rust detection: Automatically detect rust-affected areas.

Cooling Tower

The Cooling Tower Asset type offers the following outputs, options, and AI plugins:
