New site - PIX4Dcloud

A site in PIX4Dcloud Pro is a collection of datasets from a specific location or project area. Sites enable timeline-based visualization, comparison of datasets over time, and access to Pro-exclusive features such as advanced monitoring and design overlay tools. This article explains why and when to create a site and provides step-by-step instructions for creating new sites in PIX4Dcloud Pro.

Licenses: This article is only valid for PIX4Dcloud Pro licenses (formerly PIX4Dcloud Advanced).

Roles: Only Owners, Managers, and Editors can create or manage sites in PIX4Dcloud Pro.

Video: The following video tutorial explains step-by-step how to organize Sites within PIX4Dcloud Advanced.

Why create a site

A site groups multiple datasets in a single location and allows them to take advantage of features exclusive to PIX4Dcloud Pro, including:

  • Timeline-based dataset navigation

  • Design overlay and comparison tools

  • 2D/3D time-based visualization

Warning: Datasets not assigned to a site are still displayed in PIX4Dcloud Pro, such as when uploading project files from PIX4Dmapper.

When to create a new site

A dataset must be assigned to a site to access the full functionality of PIX4Dcloud Pro. New sites can be created in the following situations:

How to create a new site

Before creating a dataset

  1. At the top left of the Drive, click New and select New site.
  2. Enter the name of the new site.
  3. Click Create site.

The new site will appear in the Drive.

While creating a new dataset

  1. In the New dataset wizard, during Step 1 – Dataset creation, locate the field Assign my dataset to.

  2. Type the name of the new site.

  3. Click CREATE NEW SITE in the drop-down menu.

After the dataset is created, the new site will appear in the Drive.

After uploading the project files from PIX4Dmapper

Information:

  • If the Create New Site option is unavailable or grayed out, the account does not have a valid PIX4Dcloud Pro license.

  • Users who previously had a Pro license and now have a Starter license retain access to previously created sites but cannot create new sites.
