XYZ format - PIX4Dfields
Introduction
The XYZ format is available under the Water Management in PIX4Dfields. This format allows the exporting of a text file containing XYZ information derived from the Digital Surface Model (DSM).
For the best results, it is recommended to use Accurate Processing when processing the drone images, to generate a high-resolution DSM before exporting.
Steps to export an XYZ File
- Go to Export.
- Select Water Management.
- Select the DSM from your project.
- Choose the Coordinate Reference System (CRS):
- Projected (UTM)
- Exports the X, Y, Z coordinates in meters (Easting, Northing, and Elevation).
- Geographic

- Projected (UTM)
- Adjust the grid resolution (e.g., 0.5 m – 10 m) to control the level of detail in your exported file. 1m is comparable to Lidar surveys, start with 3m if you don't know the limits of the receiving software.
- Check the estimated number of points and file size before exporting.
- Export the XYZ file for use in other GIS applications.
Common Software Compatibility
The formatted XYZ file will be compatible with major agricultural grading software including:
- Trimble AG
