Risks of continuing to use PIX4Dmapper after End-of-Support
In October 2026, PIX4D announced the End-of-Support date for PIX4Dmapper. This article details the potential risks associated with continuing to work with PIX4Dmapper after December 1, 2027.
Customers who continue using PIX4Dmapper past the End-of-Support date do so entirely at their own risk.
- Security: No more patches or vulnerability fixes.
- Compatibility: OS updates (Windows, macOS) and hardware drivers (GPUs, cameras, DJI SDK) will eventually break compatibility. PIX4D will not fix those regressions after the End-of-Support date, so users may find the software stops working after a routine OS upgrade.
- Regulatory/compliance: Using unsupported software with known unpatched vulnerabilities could expose enterprise customers to compliance risk.
- No bug fixes: Existing processing issues, output inaccuracies, or crashes won't be addressed.
- Loss of standard support access: No technical support tickets, no troubleshooting, no workarounds from PIX4D. Pixie will continue to provide ongoing automated troubleshooting and resource guidance 24/7 until further notice. Documentation, tutorial videos, and the community will also remain available until further notice.
- Data format drift: Industry formats evolve. PIX4Dmapper outputs may become incompatible with newer downstream tools over time.
- Positional accuracy: New Coordinate Reference Systems will not be added or corrected.
