Important Update: Resolving Stability Issues in Intel's 13th and 14th Gen Raptor Lake CPUs
PIX4Dmatic may experience crashes on certain Intel CPUs when performing intensive tasks like camera calibration or point cloud densification. This article outlines the issue and details the recommended solutions.
Issue description
Intel's 13th- and 14th-generation Raptor Lake CPUs are facing serious stability issues and frequent crashes. The issue has been traced to excessive voltage being sent to the CPU cores, which can lead to both performance problems and permanent damage to the processors. More information can be found here.

Recommendation
To address this, Intel has released a microcode update that must be applied via a BIOS update from the motherboard manufacturer. It is essential to download and install this update promptly to prevent further damage, especially if demanding applications such as PIX4Dmatic or PIX4Dmapper run frequently. It is recommended to check the motherboard's support page for the latest BIOS updates.
If the CPU still exhibits instability after the BIOS update, it may already be damaged. Intel advises affected users to replace their CPUs under the extended warranty they’ve offered, as the update will not repair existing hardware damage. More information can be found here.
