Offline license - PIX4Dmatic

PIX4Dmatic can be used on a device that is not connected to the internet. However, enabling offline functionality requires following a specific procedure to ensure proper licensing and software activation.

Important: Offline access to PIX4Dmatic requires a specific offline license. If you need this capability, please contact our Sales team.

How to obtain an Offline license

Offline licenses require a dedicated license type, which is distinct from standard online licenses:

  • One-time-charge (OTC) offline licenses are version-locked and do not support upgrades.
  • Subscription offline licenses include an expiration date based on the license term (typically 3 or 5 years). During the validity period, it is possible to upgrade to newer software versions using the same offline license.
  • Trial licenses are not available for Offline use.

Note: For inquiries on offline licenses, please contact our sales team.

How to access your Hardware ID

During the sales process, the sales team will request the Hardware ID of the device intended for offline use. Follow these steps to retrieve it:

  1. Open PIX4Dmatic on the device you plan to use offline.
  2. Go to Edit > Preferences.
  3. Navigate to the Offline license tab.
  4. Click the copy copy Hardware ID iconbutton next to the Hardware ID (displayed in the green box) to copy it to your clipboard.

Copy the Hardware ID from the Offline license tab

Warning: The Hardware ID must be obtained from the device you intend to use offline. The license is only valid for that specific machine.

How to activate the Offline License

Once the license is issued, the sales team will provide an offline license file (.lic). This file must be imported into the software to activate the license.

To import the .lic file:

  1. Go to Edit > Preferences.
  2. Navigate to the Offline license tab.
  3. Once in the Offline license tab, either:
    • Drag and drop the .lic file into the window, or
    • Click the import import Hardware ID icon button and select the file.

Once imported:

  • For one-time-charge licenses, the max authorized software version will be displayed.
  • For subscription licenses, the license expiration date will be shown.

Important:

  • Offline licenses are hardware-locked.
  • If the software is changed, the license may be reissued once per year, subject to approval from Pix4D.
  • For 3 and 5-year licenses (with valid S&U), the reissued license will retain the original expiration date.
