How to visualize a project with Autotags in PIX4Dcloud

This article explains how to view Autotags in a project processed with PIX4Dcloud. Autotags, uploaded from PIX4Dcatch, can be used as Manual Tie Points (MTPs) during processing. The guide details how Autotags are displayed in the PIX4Dcloud viewer and how to interpret their attributes.

Licenses: This article is valid for PIX4Dcloud Starter and PIX4Dcloud Pro licenses (formerly PIX4Dcloud Advanced).

Roles: Only Owners, Managers, and Editors can create and process datasets in PIX4Dcloud.

Autotags layer overview

Once a project has been processed in PIX4Dcloud, Autotags are visible under Layers. The Autotags layer contains all the tags used during processing.

Viewing Autotags in the 2D/3D viewer

  • Hover over or click an Autotag point to highlight it in the viewer.

  • In the right panel, click each point in the hierarchy to display the computed coordinates of the Autotag center.

  • For each Autotag, only the center point is displayed in the viewer, but five points are used in the computation: one at each corner and the center point, which is calculated based on the other four.

Autotag point details

Each Autotag provides the following information:

  • Autotags layer [1]:  It contains all the Autogats that were used to process the dataset.
  • Autotag point: By clicking on each point, the following information is displayed:
    • Autotag name [2]: Name given to the Autotag.
    • Autotag settings [3]:
      • Visible: Enables the visibility or invisibility of the Autotag icon in the 2D/3D viewer.
      • Opacity: Set the opacity level [0-100%] of the Autotag icon in the 2D/3D viewer.
    • Coordinates [4]: Refers to the computed coordinates in the output coordinate system of the Autotag.

Clicking or hovering over a point in the hierarchy highlights the Autotag icon in the viewer, making it easy to locate and verify.

Additional information

Autotags can be generated automatically in PIX4Dcatch using coded tags. For more details on creating and using Autotags in PIX4Dcatch, see How to use Automatic Tag Detection and Manual GCP Marking - PIx4Dcatch.
