Measurements - PIX4Dinspect

Measurement tool

The Measure tool is used to measure lengths, heights, distances, or areas. Although the measurements are saved by default, they can later be edited, updated, or deleted, and will not be reflected in the PDF reports until a new one is generated after finishing with such updates.

Create measurements

To create measurements:

  • On the image viewer look for the item or area on which you would like to make measurements.
  • On the top right corner of the image viewer, select one of the following markers:
    • distance.jpg Line: Shows the length (m/ft).
    • area.jpg Polygon: Shows the surface (ha).
  • Place the cursor, which now will show a cross shape, on the starting point of your measurement and left-click.
  • Drag each line until the endpoint of your measurement and click the check (check.png) to end the drawing.
  • The details of your measurement will show on the Measurement Card, on the right-hand side of the screen, next to the image viewer.
Note: You can choose the color of each measurement by going to the Measurement Card and picking one of the twelve options available.
Note: After finishing with each measurement, a pop-up window will appear next to the measurements tools to remind you of the Add a screenshot to report capability.

Add a screenshot to report

With the Add a screenshot to report tool you are able to take a screenshot of the 3D model and add it to the PDF report to provide visual information and enhance its identification. Before taking a screenshot, adjust the 3D view (framing, zoom level, camera, annotation, measurements, and inventory opacity level) to make sure your measurement is displayed properly in the report.

  • On the Edit section, next to the image viewer, click on the Add a screenshot to report icon mceclip0.jpg.
  • A Screenshot preview window will appear.
  • Make sure that the screenshot is well centered and displays exactly what you want to see. Otherwise, you can click Cancel, and start again.
  • Click Save to add the screenshot to your measurement.
  • Only one screenshot per measurement can be added to the PDF report.
  • Remember to generate a new PDF report to see the changes reflected in the document.

Share a measurement

With the Share tool, the user can create a share link to a specific measurement and share it via email or link and include some notes if needed. The annotations are visible to the collaborators for read-only.

  • On the Edit section, next to the image viewer, click on the Share icon share__1_.png.
  • A Share Measurement window will appear.
  • Enter an email to share it with and lick share, or click on copy link to share the link via private message or chat.
  • Optionally, a private message can be added to the share link.

Edit measurements

  • In the Layers tab of the left-side navigation menu, click on the manage measurements icon mceclip1.jpg.
  • Chose the measurement that you want to edit.
  • The details of your measurement will show on the right-hand side of the screen, next to the image viewer.
  • Now you can add or change the name, add a screenshot, add a description, or delete it.
  • All changes will be automatically saved.
  • Remember to generate a new PDF report to see the changes reflected in the document.
