Processing projects - PIX4Dcatch

Follow

With a captured PIX4Dcatch project, there are several options for processing a 3D model from it. Directly upload and process to PIX4Dcloud / PIX4Dcloud Advanced for the most immediate results, or export the project and process using PIX4Dmatic or PIX4Dmapper.

Upload and process to PIX4Dcloud / PIX4Dcloud Advanced

For fast results, uploading and processing with PIX4Dcloud / PIX4Dcloud Advanced can provide quick shareable 3D reconstructions.

Important: A PIX4Dcloud / PIX4Dcloud Advanced license is required to upload the project for cloud processing.

Tip: If a PIX4Dcatch project has at least three marked Tags or GCPs, cloud processing will consider them automatically to improve accuracy.

Upload directly from the project

After capturing a project, upload directly to PIX4Dcloud / PIX4Dcloud Advanced for processing by tapping the blue Upload button upload button at the top of the screen. Projects can be opened from the Projects screen anytime.

Upload from the Projects screen

It is also possible to upload from the Projects screen. The Projects screen lists all of the projects taken on the mobile device.

1. Tap the folder icon project folder icon to access the Projects screen.

2. Tap and hold on the desired project to access the menu.

Upload Project processing options

After tapping Upload the Upload project window appears providing further options for processing the project.

Note: For more information when using the PIX4Dcloud / PIX4Dcloud Advanced credit balance system: PIX4Dcloud / PIX4Dcloud Advanced credit balance system - PIX4Dcatch.

Note: When capturing a project with a LiDAR-capable device, the depth data will be processed automatically. Refer to the PIX4Dcatch FAQ for a list of compatible devices and for more information on how PIX4Dcatch uses LiDAR data.

PIX4Dcatch upload dialog

Select processing options with the Upload Project dialog.

  • Measure Volumes and Elevation Profiles: Select the option to generate a DSM.
  • 2D Map: Select the option to generate an Orthomosaic.
  • Site Localization: Select a site, where to assign the project.
  • Output CRS: Select the output coordinate reference system (CRS) to use. If GCPs are included in the project, this option will locked to the GCPs' CRS. This option is only available if using RTK rover during capturing the project.

4. An email is sent when all images are uploaded and processing begins.
5. A second email is sent when processing is finished.
6. After the processing is finished, the results can be viewed and shared on PIX4Dcloud.

Note: The project can be assigned to an existing Site if a PIX4Dcloud Advanced license is available. To use this, switch to the Assign to tab and fill in all the requested information.

Process locally with PIX4Dmapper or PIX4Dmatic

  1. Export the project files from PIX4Dcatch. How to export PIX4Dcatch projects (iOS/Android) for more information.
  2. Create a new project and start processing using PIX4Dmapper/PIX4Dmatic.
    For more information:
  3. After the processing is finished, the results are available for further analysis in PIX4Dmapper/PIX4Dmatic.
  4. Eventually upload the results to PIX4Dsurvey or PIX4Dcloud, if needed. How to import a PIX4Dmatic project into PIX4Dsurvey, or How to upload or replace results to PIX4Dcloud for more information.

Important: A PIX4Dmapper/PIX4Dmatic (trial, discovery, OTC, monthly, and yearly) license with S&U (Support and Upgrade) is required to export and process the project in PIX4Dmapper/PIX4Dmatic.

Tip: PIX4Dmatic has the ability to process PIX4Dcatch projects with marked GCPs if the project includes at least two marked GCPs. For more information: How to use automatic Tag Detection and manual GCP marking - PIX4Dcatch RTK

Tip: PIX4Dmatic has the ability to process PIX4Dcatch projects with LiDAR depth data using the Depth and dense fusion option, as well as having a Sky filter and Noise filter which benefits oblique imagery.
