Annotate a layer

Access: The annotation tool is available as soon as images are processed or a GeoTIFF is imported in a Pix4Dfields project. The options associated to an annotation are available as soon as an annotation exists in a project.

Import an annotation as GeoJSON

To import annotations as GeoJSON:

  1. Click Annotate at the top right of the window.
  2. Click the layer where you want to add an annotation.
  3. Click on the menu next to ANNOTATIONS at the bottom left of the window.
  4. Click Import.
  5. Navigate to the folder containing the file and select it.
  6. Click Open.

Annotate a layer

To add annotations to a layer:

  1. Click Annotate at the top right of the window.
  2. Click the layer where you want to add an annotation.
  3. Click Add Point, Add Line, or Add Area.
  4. Left-click to add each new vertex.
  5. Click Accept to finish digitizing the annotation or click Cancel to discard the annotation.
  6. Add a Title (mandatory) and Description (optional) to the annotation.
  7. Click Create.
 
Note: Point annotations allow measuring the coordinates of a point, line annotations will measure a length, and polygon annotations will measure an area. For more information: Measurement tool.

Edit an annotation

To edit an annotation:

  1. Click Annotate at the top right of the window.
  2. Select the layer and annotation to edit.
     
    Note: Select an annotation at the bottom left, under ANNOTATIONS, or directly on the layer that is displaying it.
  3. At the bottom of the right sidebar, under ANNOTATIONS, enable Edit.
  4. Drag and drop a vertex to relocate it.
  5. For lines and polygons, click the "plus" sign between two vertices to add a new vertex.
  6. For lines and polygons, drag and drop a vertex on top of an adjacent vertex to delete it.
  7. For lines and polygons, drag and drop the annotation to relocate the entire annotation.

Add attachments to an annotation

To add attachments to an annotation:

  1. Click Annotate at the top right of the window.
  2. Select the layer and annotation to edit.
  3. Click the menu (three dots) besides Attachments.
  4. Click Attach images.
  5. Navigate to the folder containing the file and select it.
  6. Click Open.

Add a description to an annotation

To add a description to an annotation:

  1. Click Annotate at the top right of the window
  2. Select the layer and annotation to edit. 
  3. Under DESCRIPTION, write a description.

Fill the area of the annotation

Fill the area of an annotation:

  1. Click Annotate at the top right of the window.
  2. Select the layer and annotation to edit.
  3. Under ANNOTATION, enable Area Fill.

Reuse an annotation

To reuse an annotation:

  1. Click Annotate at the top right of the window.
  2. Select the layer and annotation to reuse.
  3. Click the menu (three dots) next to ANNOTATIONS.
  4. Click Reuse.
  5. Click the white cross symbol in the middle of the annotation that appeared and drag it to relocate the annotation.
  6. Click Accept.
  7. Add a Title (mandatory) and Description (optional) to the annotation.
  8. Click Create.

Export an annotation

To export an annotation:

  1. Click the Export at the top right of the window.
  2. Under EXPORT, click Annotations.
  3. Under Select layer, select the layer.
  4. Select the annotation to export.
  5. Click Export.
  6. Navigate to the folder where you want to export the annotation.
  7. In File name, write a name for the file.

Delete annotations

To delete annotations:

  1. Click Annotate at the top right of the window.
  2. At the bottom left of the window, under ANNOTATIONS, click the bin icon next to the name of the annotation you want to delete.
  3. In the pop-op window, click Yes.
