Pix4D floating licenses

Pix4D licenses are floating licenses that allow one to:

  • Be logged in to a Pix4D application on one or more devices (laptop or desktop machine) at the same time. The number of devices depends on the license.
  • Install Pix4D desktop software on as many computers as wanted without the need to uninstall Pix4D desktop software to move the license to another computer.

Licenses are hosted on our servers and an internet connection is required to get a license assigned to your device (we offer offline licenses for PIX4Dmatic and PIX4Dsurvey, please reach out to our sales team for more information). If the maximum number of seats allowed by your license is being used (for instance two), it is not possible to log into the Pix4D desktop application on a third computer at the same time.

To free a seat, follow the instructions listed in the "How to deactivate an active device on a license" section, depending on your product.

How to change my Pix4D account email?

Users cannot change the email of their Pix4D account.

As a workaround, access to licenses under an organization can be granted to a new account by inviting it as an organization user  (How to invite users to the organization). More information about Organization management can be found here: Organization management.

Note: In the event of an organization with only one member, and this member has no access to their account (therefore, no new organization members can be invited), one of our technical support engineers can change the organization owner's email.

In this specific case, please submit a request to Pix4D Support to change the email address of your account. Make sure to select Email change/license transfer in the Product or topic your requests about field.

How to transfer a license to a different Pix4D account?

Users cannot transfer a license from one account to another.

Pix4D Educational licenses

Pix4D offers educational licenses with multiple seats. It is possible to set up PIX4Dmapper in a computer lab or classroom and manage the licenses' access. For more information, please refer to PIX4Dmapper installation for computer lab.

Pix4D also provides a PIX4Dmapper license to students at a reduced price. The requirement is that only a user having a professor license can invite students to purchase a semester or yearly license. For more information: Semester/yearly license of PIX4Dmapper for students.

How to deactivate an active device on a license

Pix4D software supports installation on multiple devices; however, each license has a defined limit for simultaneous active devices. When this limit is exceeded, a “Maximum number of devices reached” message is displayed. To enable access on another device, one of the currently active devices must be deactivated.

Note: If the device cannot be accessed (e.g., it has been formatted, is no longer available, or was stolen), it must be deactivated remotely. Remote deactivation can be performed using the following tools:

  • If the device is still accessible, log out of the Pix4D account while connected to the internet.

License keys and Pix4D credit voucher codes

License keys and Pix4D credit vouchers must be assigned to an organization through the redemption page before use.

This procedure is required only once and must be completed by a user with the Owner or Manager role in the organization.
