Pix4D licenses

Pix4D floating licenses

Pix4D licenses are floating licenses that allow one to:

  • Be logged in to a Pix4D application on one or more devices (laptop or desktop machine) at the same time. The number of devices depends on the license.
  • Install Pix4D desktop software on as many computers as wanted without the need to uninstall Pix4D desktop software to move the license to another computer.

Licenses are hosted on our servers and you need an internet connection to get a license assigned to your device (we offer offline licenses for PIX4Dmatic and PIX4Dsurvey, please reach out to our sales team for more information). If you are already using the software on the maximum number of seats allowed by your license (for instance two), it is not possible to log into the Pix4D desktop application on a third computer at the same time.

To free a seat, follow the instructions listed in the "How to deactivate an active device on a license" section, depending on your product.

How to change my Pix4D account email?

Users cannot change the email of their Pix4D account.

To still get access to the licenses belonging to the account's organization with a new account, a new organization member can be invited (How to invite users to the organization).

If the organization has only one member, and this person has no access to their account (no new organization members can be invited), one of our technical support engineers can change the organization owner's email.

In this case, please submit a request to Pix4D Support to change the email address of your account. Make sure to select Email change/license transfer in the Product or topic your requests about field.

Important: According to Section 3.3. (b) of Pix4D EULA, the user may not transfer the License to any other person or entity not included in the Order. Therefore

However, the email can still be changed if:

  • If you provide a new address on the same company domain or

  • You provide a signed confirmation letter with company letterhead and stamp (if available) stating the request and the reasons behind this request.

This procedure is in place to protect our customers and make sure that there are no abuses and that the owner is not losing access to the license.

Note: When requesting an email change, the new email address should not be already associated to an existing Pix4D account.

How to transfer a license to a different Pix4D account?

Users cannot transfer a license from one account to another. If you want to give someone else access to the licenses belonging to your organization, you can invite new members to your organization, as explained in this article: How to invite users to the organization. More information about Organization management can be found here: Organization management.

If the organization has only one member, and this person has no access to their account (no new organization members can be invited), one of our technical support engineers can change the organization owner's email.

How to deactivate an active device on a license

Pix4D software can usually be used on many different devices. Depending on your license, you have a limited number of devices that can be active at the same time. When the maximum number of licenses is reached, a "Maximum number of devices reached" message appears. If you want to access your software on another device, you might need to deactivate the first device first.

  • If you still have access to the device, log out from your account while being connected to the internet.
