Conditions for visualization
The 3D view can load and render the point cloud of a project. This allows to inspect the model with more precision than with the textured mesh. The point cloud can only be visualized if a .las file is generated during the processing on our servers, or if a .las file is provided using the result upload feature. For more information: How to upload results and outputs to the cloud.
Display and 3D measurements
Point clouds make use of LoD (Level-of-Detail) for fast and efficient loading in web browsers. It is possible to change the visualization settings, size and number of points, by clicking .
The rendering can rely on an adaptive or a fixed size mode.
- Adaptive point size mode: the size of the points reflects the LoD level (not the precision) that is being displayed. This can create disparities among the points where some appear larger than others.
- Fixed point size mode: the size of the points does not adapt to the LoD being displayed. This mode can favor a better rendering in particular situations, especially those where models contain thin structures.
To change the point size mode:
- On the left panel, click the Point Cloud layer.
- On the right panel, select Fixed or Adaptive as Point size mode.
If the project is processed on the Cloud servers, the point cloud allows to export 3D measurements and annotations that are georeferenced. For more information: Cloud georeferencing, annotations and measurements.
