(Android and iOS) Which type of mission to choose?

Several types of mission can be selected in Pix4Dcapture. Some missions are only available on iOS and others only support certain drones on Android.
These missions were designed according the recommended image acquisition plans. For more information: 202557459.

There are three autopilot missions and one manual but semi-automatic mission.

Plan and fly a nadir rectangle mission.

Recommended for most environments. It ensures that the images are taken with the optimal overlap required to get accurate 3D models and maps.

Plan and fly a two nadir rectangle missions with optimized overlap.

Recommended for better reconstruction of 3D models. It ensures that the images are taken from multiple sides, with the optimal overlap required to get accurate 3D models.

Compared to the simple grid, this mission is recommended when flying closer to objects in order to capture more details in the facades of building for instance.

Plan and fly a nadir polygonal mission.

Recommended for most environments that require flexible boundaries for flying or with a complex mapping shape. It ensures that the images are taken with the optimal overlap required to get accurate 3D models and maps.

Plan and fly an ellipsoid mission around objects.

Recommended for 3D models of an object (e.g. towers, pylons, buildings). It ensures that the images are taken with the optimal overlap required to get accurate 3D models.

It is recommended to fly several circular missions at different altitude.

Plan and fly a free flight mission (advanced users).

Recommended to map more difficult objects (e.g. sides of houses, towers, pylons, bridges) that require more flexibility. However, the camera shutter is automatically triggered according a horizontal and vertical distance interval. It requires to manually pilot the drone and to understand how to fly an optimal flight path.
