How to generate the Contour Lines

Video: Watch the instructional video related to Contour Lines and DTMhere.

Important: The contour lines are computed using the:
  • the Raster DTM (Digital Terrain Model), if it is already generated. For more information about how to generate the DTM: 202560579 and about the contour lines, using the DTM: 217262006.
  • the Raster DSM (Digital Surface Model), if the raster DTM is not generated or if the DTM tiles are not merged. For more information about contour lines, using the DSM: 202559879.

During processing step 3. DSM, Orthomosaic and Index

The contour lines are not selected in the processing options in the default, predefined Processing Templates. Modify the options following:

1. On the Menu bar, click Process > Processing Options...
2. Select the processing step 3. DSM, Orthomosaic and Index.
3. Select the tab DSM and Orthomosaic.
4. In the section Raster DSM, make sure that GeoTIFF and Merge Tiles are selected.
5. Select the tab Additional Outputs
6. In the section Contour Lines, select the desired output formats (SHP, PDF, DXF).
7. (optional) Change the Contour Base [unit]Elevation Interval [unit], Resolution [cm] and Minimum Line Size [vertices] values. For more information about the contour line options: 202558419.
8. Click OK.
9. Select step 3. DSM, Orthomosaic and Index and click Start.

After processing step 3. DSM, Orthomosaic and Index

If step 3. DSM, Orthomosaic and Index has already been processed, it is possible to generate the contour lines without processing step 3 again:

1. On the Menu bar, click Process > Processing Options...
2. Select the processing step 3. DSM, Orthomosaic and Index.
3. Select the tab Additional Outputs.
4. On the section Contour Lines, select the desired output formats.
5. (optional) Change the Contour Base [unit]Elevation Interval [unit], Resolution [cm] and Minimum Line Size [vertices] values. For more information about the contour lines options: 202558419.
6. Click OK.
7. On the Menu bar, click Process > Generate Contour Lines (DSM) or Process > Generate Contour Lines (DTM).

Important: If raster DSM is not exported or the tiles of the raster DSM are not merged, the option is grayed out. In this case, generate the contour lines while processing step 3. DSM, Orthomosaic and Index as described above.

Note: The contour lines files are stored in:

...\project_name\3_dsm_ortho\extras\contours\project_name_interval_resolution_minimum_line_size_DSM.* or

...\project_name\3_dsm_ortho\extras\contours\project_name_interval_resolution_minimum_line_size_DTM.* depending on if it was generated using the DSM or the DTM.
