How to visualize a Triangle Mesh in the rayCloud - PIX4Dmapper

Access: Available once step 2. Point Cloud and Mesh has been completed.

There are 3 ways to display a Triangle Mesh in the rayCloud:

1. Using the 3D Textured Mesh of the project generated by PIX4Dmapper

In order to visualize the 3D Textured Mesh of the actual project:

1. (optional) If the 3D Textured Mesh has not been created, generate it by following: How to generate the 3D Textured Mesh.
2. On the Menu bar, click View > rayCloud.
3. On the left sidebar, in the section Layers, select Triangle Meshes.

Note: For more information about the Triangle Meshes display features: Menu View > rayCloud > Left sidebar > Layers > Triangle Meshes .
Note: It is possible to visualize in the rayCloud only the 3D Textured Mesh. The LOD Mesh cannot be visualized in PIX4Dmapper. To visualize the LOD Mesh: Pix4D outputs with other software > by output.

2. Using a PIX4Dmapper Point Cloud

Important: The Point Cloud has to be generated in .las or .laz format.

1. On the Menu bar, click View > rayCloud.
2. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the Point Cloud.
3. Drag and drop the Point Cloud file onto the Triangle Meshes layer in the Layers section of the left sidebar.

Warning: DO NOT drag and drop the file while a project is processing: Processing may stop.

4. A Triangle Mesh with no color is generated and displayed in the 3D View.

Note: For more information about the Triangle Meshes display features: Menu View > rayCloud > Left sidebar > Layers > Triangle Meshes .

3. Using an external Point Cloud

Important:
  • The point cloud has to be in .las or .laz. format.
  • The project needs to have a known coordinate system, not an arbitrary one.
  • The georeferenced .las and .laz point clouds need to have a known coordinate system.

1. On the Menu bar, click View > rayCloud.
2. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the point cloud.
3. Drag and drop the Point Cloud file onto the Triangle Meshes layer in the Layers section of the left sidebar.

Warning: DO NOT drag and drop the file while a project is processing: The processing may stop.

4. A Triangle Mesh with no color is then generated and displayed in the 3D View.

Note: For more information about the Triangle Meshes display features: Menu View > rayCloud > Left sidebar > Layers > Triangle Meshes .
