To move a project from one machine to another the following data must be transferred:
- The input images, one or several folders.
- The Pix4D project file: project_name.p4d.
- The project folder located next to the .p4d file, containing all results and outputs: project_name.
Important: It is highly recommended to use the Save As software option to move a project to make sure all internal paths are updated. Just copying the project files and folders can break some links and prevent results to be loaded afterwards.
Tip: Keep a copy of the project in the initial location in case something goes wrong during the transfer. Remove it only after the project opens as expected in the new location.
The recommended procedure is as follows:
1. Open the project to be moved.
2. On the menu bar, click Project > Save As...
3. Browse for the final new directory (e.g. if the other machine is a connected server) or for an intermediate location (e.g. external disk, USB stick, etc.) and click Save.
4. Copy the image folder(s).
If the project is saved in an intermediate location:
5. Connect the memory device to the new machine.
6. Open the project from the external disk or the USB stick.
7. On the menu bar, click Project > Save As...
8. Browse for the final new directory and click Save.
9. Copy the image folder(s).

I'd like to ask you about the process to move a project to another machine.
I've tried to save and copy the input images folders, the pix4d project file, and the project folder located (containing all result and outputs) in an external disk.
But, every time I try to open the project (from the external disk) in another machine to save as new project, it's said that the project can't find the images location. I've tried to select the folder where the images is located, but it didn't work.
Is there any step that I probably skipped?

The best way to move a processed project from one location to another is by using the Save Project As... option that you can find in the Project menu. This way the entire project (.p4d and Results folder) will be moved to the new location. We recommend moving also the images in the new drive so that you make sure that all the links are maintained. If you copy paste the folders into another location, the internal links will not be updated and you cannot update them manually. Please also:

This seems like an awfully convoluted process to go to read a project in from a new location.
The amount of people that will be moving projects around to archive them due to their size must surely make it sensible for Pix4D to come up with a more user friendly system.
So long as an entire project is kept in a single folder and moved around together then it should be straight forward enough to re-assign the paths to various reference files to reconstruct the job through a series of pop up options?
Does Pix4D have any plans to develop this further at all?

When moving the projects, I would recommend either using the Save As... or making sure that the relation between the .p4d file and the project folder stay the same as in the original directory.
If you keep the same relation, .p4d file is outside of the Result Folder, then the relative path of the project will not change and you will be able to open the project even after copy-pasting it to another location or drive.
At the moment it is only possible to re-assign the paths of the image folder (via a pop-up).

Didn't know about recommendation to use Save as.. to relocate project to another place, so I did it using Copy-Paste. Project folder structure is the same as at the previous place. But when I open Mosaic Editor and try to zoom orthoimagery next error appears: [Error]: Loader [*project_name*_transparent_mosaic_group1@4x51020x79249@0.125]: failed to load image!
And zooming fails.
Do I have any chance to fix it somehow?

Do you have by any chance access to the original location? One solution I can think of is to rerun Step 3. In this way, we'll overwrite the broken files and paths and fix the project.

In an attempt to back up information to a storage server, we see that going through the suggested process, Orthomosaic is not loading properly. Logs will say that some images are not calibrated and or missing. Point cloud and mesh loads fine. But if we zoom in to the same level form the original machine it was processed, the picture is pixelated.
We have a large number of projects that need to be archived. But most importantly, we want to avoid re-processing the projects if we need to use them again.
I am sure this issue has happened to many users. But, is that something in particular that we might be doing wrong?

If you follow the above-mentioned instructions and you use the same Pix4Dmapper version, there should be no problem.
I suspect an issue with the hardware. Could you please make sure your GPU drivers are updated? If this does not solve the issue, please create a post on our Community.
