This article lists the factors that influence the processing time of PIX4Dcloud projects.

Factors

The following are the primary factors that are related to the processing time of a PIX4Dcloud dataset:

  • Project:
    • Number of images.
      • More images per dataset typically requires more time.
    • Image resolution.
      • More pixels per image typically requires more time.
    • Amount of image overlap.
      • More overlap between images typically requires more time.
    • If the images are geolocated or not.
      • Missing geotags or inaccurate geotags typically requires more time.
  • Processing template selected:
    • Quality selected.
      • Higher quality, resolution, or density typically requires more time.
    • Amount of outputs to be generated.
      • More reconstructions requires more time.
  • Processing traffic on the servers.
    • More datasets processing may require more time. 

Suggestions

  • Only upload images with content that is relevant to the project to make sure that PIX4Dcloud doesn't spend time reconstructing irrelevant areas.
  • Consider using the rapid templates for processing so PIX4Dcloud generates less detailed results.
  • Select the template that best suits your use case to make sure that PIX4Dcloud uses the most appropriate processing options.

Note: The processing time estimated by PIX4Dcloud is an approximation. Many factors can change the amount of time it takes for a project to finish processing.
Processing can take more time than the amount of time PIX4Dcloud estimated when processing started. A PIX4Dcloud project can require up to 48 hours to finish processing.
