Prior to any flights
Basic checks
Ensure that:
- Pix4Dcapture is compatible with the drone and camera: (Android, iOS) Which drones are supported by Pix4Dcapture. If the drone/camera is not supported visit Which image acquisition app can I use with Pix4D's software?
- The latest version of Pix4Dcapture is installed on the iOS or Android mobile device. Note that Pix4Dcapture for Android requires to install an additional app, Ctrl+plugin, depending on the drone.
- The latest version of Ctrl+DJI (1.9.9) available on the Google Play Store is not compatible with devices running the Android 12 operating system. Install the Ctrl+DJI 1.9.10 beta version using the below link: Downloadable Link
- The latest drone firmware is installed.
- The area to fly is not a no-fly zone.
- The drone's SD card is correctly formatted and has enough space to store images.
- (Android) The drone manufacturer's original app is not selected as default: (Android) How to change default app when connecting to the drone.
- The drone manufacturer's app is not running in the background. Force quit if necessary: (Android, iOS) How to force quit an app.
- The correct drone and camera are selected in the settings of Pix4Dcapture.
Using the drone manufacturer's app
Ensure that:
- The drone's camera and compass are calibrated.
- No flight setting conflicts with the mission, including maximum altitude, beginner mode, geofences, etc.
- The drone's fail-safe settings are configured so the drone will return home safely.
- Basic features are working properly:
- Manual takeoff and flying.
- Live video feed of the camera.
- Manual picture triggering.
Persistent fails
If the app cannot connect to the drone, a takeoff checklist item fails, or something went wrong during the mission:
- Force quit Pix4Dcapture and reopen it: (Android, iOS) How to force quit an app.
- Restart your mission from scratch. To do so, close and force quit the app, disconnect the cable from the mobile device, turn off the remote controller and the drone. Then switch on the drone and the controller, reconnect the USB cable and open Pix4Dcapture. On Android, launch Pix4Dcapture from Ctrl+plugin.
- If possible, try another iOS or Android mobile device.
- If possible, try another drone.
- Try another USB cable.
I use anafi with pix4dcapture to do mapping with no problems, but after freefligth 6 and firmware last updates there is a problem with px4dcapture. I run a mission and after the second flight line the anafi stops the mission. i reinstall everything but still the same problem i tried many times with different configurations and still the same problem
The same problem I used DJI P4 pro v2 today. I ran a mission and the drone took off, then it hung over me about 3 meters and stopped the mission. What should I do? Furthermore I reinstalled everything as well.
@Christos, the issue reported on the Anafi is currently investigated and we will keep you updated on this thread.
@Piotr, It does not look like it is the same issue as the root cause for the Anafi seems to be a firmware update. Moreover, so far, the behavior you are describing has not been reported for the P4P V2. I would suggest you look carefully at the basic checks and troubleshooting article above. For example, make sure that you are not flying in a DJI No-Fly-Zone and that no settings in DJI GO 4 prevents the flight to be executed properly using Pix4Dcapture,
Best,
Dear All
i am using at pix4dcapture and phantom 4 advance. each time i have a gap between the number of photos.
the pix4dcapture after finish the mission says the i have x photos and the sd card have lass and we have lack of photos.
the sd card is free and clean after format , but each time we have this gap and lack of photos de facto. what is the reason ?
Hello Kobi,
The Phantom 4 Advanced is not officially supported by our application and then we can not make any guarantee that it will work using it. You can find our current list of supported drones and cameras so as a thread dedicated to the Phantom 4 Advanced where users shared their feedback.
about the issue reported, are you using the iOS or Android version of Pix4Dcapture? Also, if iOS, are you using the Fast or Safe mode to trigger pictures?
Best,
Hi
i use ios the speed is medium - 70 %
Hi Kobi,
This issue might come out of the fact that the connection was lost with your drone at some point during the mission. Indeed in iOS, the picture triggering relies on a stable connection during the flight. I can suggest you try the Safe mode to trigger pictures.
I won't be able to give you more help on it as we don't officially support the configuration you are flying.
Best,
HI,
I did a 3D capture mission. Why with mavic 2 there is an offset between the take-off point and the landing point (about 1m offset)?
but with a phantom 4 pro, this offset is only 10 cm.
Thanks
Hi Anthony,
Thank you for your feedback. The takeoff and landing is a sequence that is fully handled by the drone itself. Pix4Dcapture is triggering the sequence but does not interact with it afterward.
Then, the drone instrumentation/firmware/software may differ in between the Mavic 2 and P4P and lead to this kind of offset you observed.
Best,
Thank you for your reply Gael. If I understand correctly, you mean that the error comes from the drone but not the software?
finally, I found. It is necessary to update the drone because the precision of the landing si missing in the firmware by default of mavic 2.

Hi
Can I use Pix4d Capture to plan mission and control a DJI Wind 4?
Regards
Hi,
The DJI WInd 4 is not supported by Pix4Dcapture so you won't be able to use it with our application. You can find on our Knowledge Base our current list of supported drones and cameras.
Best,
Bonjour,
Cordialement
Bonjour Hugo,
Caution
The two procedures below may imply data loss so we recommend to make a backup if there are important data saved. Connect the mobile device and copy the Pix4D folder (Local Storage > Device storage > Pix4D) to your computer.
1. Clear data and clear cache memory of the application
2. Re-install Ctrl+Plugin and Pix4Dcapture from scratch
Cordialement,
Hi,
After several successful 3D grid flights with the software I lost my Mavic Air due to an error in the Pix4D software.
There was a constant offset between the satellite map and the real GPS coordinates, so planning to fly above the coast ended up in the drone flying into a cliff and planting itself there. The location is to dangerous to attempt the recovery.
So, take real care when planning missions in the northern part of the Moray Firth, UK.
Cheers,
Dan T.
Hi Dan,
We are sorry about the bad experience you had. I am not that clear with what happened when you say "there was a constant offset between the satellite map and the real GPS coordinates".
Do you mean that the satellite maps were outdated?
Generally speaking, Pix4Dcapture is preventing you from starting a mission if the number of satellites is not enough (which can lead to drone positioning inaccuracies).
Best,
Hi Gaël,
Thanks for the quick reply.
The drone had 18-20 satellites and the positioning was perfect. The maps were not outdated either.
The maps were offset when compared with the real position. I notices after losing the drone (Shandwick, Tain, UK) that the beach and shoreline were offset when compared with the GPS position of the IPad as well.
As such I planned the grid based on the map, but the real position of the mission was offset.
I hope this clarifies things better.
Cheers,
Dan
Hi Dan,
Thank you for the additional explanations.
If I understand properly, the offset is coming out from the base map provider? Using Pix4Dcapture, users have the ability to change the base map provider if they like to. The procedure to do so can be found here.
Best,
Hi Gaël,
Indeed, the satellite map from mapbox was offset in relation to the real coordinates and to other maps as well.
Kind regards,
Dan
Hi all
I just acquired a Rededge MX sensor. I am unable to select this sensor in pix4d capture.

Hola Damari,
Tengo algunas preguntas:
Saludos
Hello Vivian,
Depending on your configuration, you will be able to trigger images images with the Rededge MX sensor on the iOS version of Pix4Dcapture by defining a custom camera.
Hi, I have a Mavic 2 Pro and have tested Pix4dCapture on Android and iOS several times. However, on both, clicking the Camera View button shows nothing, the screen only shows everything black.
The survey is done normally, but I can't see Camera View during the flight.
All firmware, application versions, and operating systems are up to date. I've searched several forums and couldn't solve my problem. Thanks if you can help me.
Hi Claudio,
Using the Mavic 2 Pro, the video feed has not been implemented on the Android version of Pix4Dcapture, it is then normal that you will have a black screen when trying to access the camera view. You can find back this information on important communication here.
On the iOS version, several users reported that the video feed was not working properly and our developers have indeed confirmed that. A fix will come in the next release of the iOS version of Pix4Dcapture.
Best regards,
I have a Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual...this particular model is not on the drone selection list. Do you recommend I use the Mavic 2 Pro instead?

Hi Israel,
As it is mention in the supported drones and cameras webpage, the Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual is not compatible with our application and then you won't be able to make automated flight plan in your configuration for the moment. I will share your interest with the Product owner.
